My Story
My journey to becoming a Pilates teacher began while studying Dance at the California Institute of the Arts.
I was drawn to the precision and repetition. It felt like a reset for both my body and mind.
After graduating, I moved to Philadelphia to dance professionally with ZeroMoving Dance Company. The physical demands of performance led me back to Pilates in a more meaningful way. I was fortunate to apprentice under master teacher Karen Carlson, whose approach expanded my understanding beyond choreography into a system that helped people learn about the body from an anatomical and kinesthetic perspective.
While working with Performing Arts Physical Therapy at The Pennsylvania Ballet, I saw firsthand how powerful Pilates can be in a rehabilitative setting. Over time, my teaching evolved to blend classical Pilates with influences from Franklin Method, Feldenkrais, yoga and therapeutic body work. I later completed a certification training with Romana Kryzanowska, deepening my connection to the classical method.
After a decade of teaching, I opened my own studio, Angler Movement Arts Center, where I built a vibrant community offering Pilates, dance, movement education for all ages as well as a performance venue.
During the pandemic I expanded my yoga practice through a teacher training with Laura Hymen and her LYT method. This alignment based approach is a great compliment to Pilates.
Now, I’m returning to my hometown of Portland, Oregon and am so excited to bring everything I’ve learned to a new community. My goal is to help each client develop strength, awareness, and confidence in their body—whether they are new to Pilates or have been practicing for years.
I look forward to welcoming you into the studio.
